Simplify and optimize your manual sorting process with the Handling Projector

Benefits of the Prime Vision Handling Projector:

      • Easy to install
      • Greatly improves efficiency
      • Scalable
      • No large investment costs needed
      • Option to dynamically change delivery routes
      • Rapid return on investment

More parcels, more data, more complexity….

Consumers are buying more and more products online, but the ever-increasing volume of parcels brings with it a number of problems for postal operators. As the complexity and variety of the visual information presented on parcels becomes ever-more complex, those parcels needed to be manually sorted and require increasingly more time per parcel to process.

Adding to this, the far larger volumes being sent means that existing sorting lines have to work much harder to meet time-sensitive demands.

The handling projector: a solution from the experts

PostNL and Prime Vision have combined their industry experience and expertise to develop a new solution: the Handling Projector. An easily installed, scalable, projection device which greatly improves efficiency in the manual sorting process.

      Projection sorting: how it works

Data beamed onto the parcel The Handling Projector identifies a parcels destination by reading its barcode or alternative data and then projects the number of its sorting destination directly onto the parcel with a laser beam. By tracking the journey of the parcel, the Handling Projector is able to keep the projected number constantly on the parcel until it is collected from the conveyor.

      More speed, less errors

As the target destination number is continuously projected onto the parcel, no manual reading of the label is needed throughout the sorting process. Not only will this improve the handling speed but the potential number of sorting errors will also greatly decrease.

      Multiple sorting processes

The easily-adaptable and scalability of the projection sorting system can be employed in any number of different scenarios: Possibly utilized as low-cost linear manual sorters to help operators select parcels as they pass along a conveyor; or alternatively at the roll-cage level to add an additional manual sorting process on very intense delivery route. The Handling Projector can be deployed in almost any configuration.

Projectors can be quickly installed, re-installed or in the unlikely event, replaced.

Integrating with all other Prime Vision solutions and architecture, as well as most existing mainstream sorting and scanning systems, the number of possible uses and variable applications of this pioneering innovation is amazing.

In essence, the renown ease of integration of Prime Vision software opens the possibility of this technology being utilized not just throughout the postal and logistics industry but far further beyond. The applications are only limited by imagination.

Handling projector: low cost, low impact

One of the key advantages of the Handling Projector is the technology within. By containing recognition sensors, laser projector technology and vision recognition software within the one unit, this makes the solution not only incredibly versatile but also remarkable value for its large capability. The plug-and-play system allows it to be incorporated into most existing sortation systems, further reducing the need for large investment costs.

Any additional training costs of operators using the Handling Projector are negligible as no specific training or experience is required. The operator-friendly nature of the system, means the manual sorting experience curve is much shortened as operators no longer need to build-up the experience to determine the destinations to maintain an effective production flow. Crucially, this allows the option to dynamically change delivery routes, at no notice, to meet changing circumstances.
