Prime Vision develops a new type of sorting machine: a handling projector. This projector is mounted above a sorting chute or moving belt in a sorting center. It is capable of reading barcodes of parcels that lie below the projector and can project characters on the parcels helping the process of people placing the parcels in specific containers or van.
The projector makes use of optical steering on two axis:
A camera needs to be pointed to a region of interest (ROI)
Information needs to be projected on these ROI’s with a laser or a projector.
The assignment entails an improved concept for the optical steering:
An analysis needs to be made what type of optical steering can be used best (Galvo’s, servo’s, MEMS, …);
A proof of concept should be made.
Eventually the system will be rolled out on industrial scale. Therefore, factors that need to be considered are the speed, projections should be stable and pleasant to work with, reliable, cost efficient, low maintenance and the solution should have a long-life span.
An HBO / WO student (micro)electronics or mechatronics;
Familiar with embedded soft- and hardware;
Preferably familiar with optics;
You are in your final year looking for a challenging graduation assignment.
