HOW TO READ ADDRESS BLOCKS ON PARCELS
Automatic OCR reading for parcels is entirely different than solutions for letters or flats, and as one of the first companies to develop a successful parcel reading solution in the industry, we understand those challenges. Strategies are required to overcome the size variation of what is considered a parcel, whether its a 50mm cube, to items that can exceed 1.5 meters, plus the likelihood of multiple labels and addresses being present on up to six surfaces.
Prime Vision's reading and coding solutions for parcels include advanced region-of-interest finding and reasoning techniques to locate and distinguish between conflicting information on up to 6-sides of a parcel in parallel.
Prime Vision's "Parcel Vision" parcel automation platform was arguably the first successful implementation of parcel reading in the postal market, following two attempts by competitors in the field. The first system was deployed in the Netherlands by PostNL at Arnhem Registered Mail Centre, followed shortly after by Post Danmark's implementation in Copenhagen.
Since those early days, Parcel Vision developed to become ParcelMatch which is now deployed at more than 70 clients in 20 countries globally. In 2016, ParcelMatch became PremierMMS, our latest next generation implementation of parcel automation capability.
