An post appoints prime vision as systems’ integrator
To achieve its aim of reaching a target of 94% next-day delivery within the State, An Post is investing heavily in the latest letter automation technology. Indeed it is about to install innovative new systems at each of its four sorting centres in Dublin, Port Aloise, Cork and Athlone.
OCR specialist Prime Vision was awarded the complete software contract for this project in January of this year. However, its involvement extends far beyond the development and supply of the necessary software modules.
Prime Vision has also been appointed the project’s system’s integrator, responsible for applying the new technology to the existing NEC and Siemens sorting machines that have been installed in recent years. And the final facet of Prime Vision’s involvement is as ‘life cycle maintenance partner’, a role that spans the next ten years.
Prime Vision’s software solution combines a work flow and sortation manager from its longstanding US associate, Address Vision Inc., with an innovative IT platform and all recognition technology developed and tailored by Prime Vision in the Netherlands. The OCR software is for address reading, stamp reading and indicia recognition.
Prime Vision is delighted to confirm that system development is progressing well. The organisation of workshops at An Post to review and evaluate key steps in the process has contributed greatly to its smooth running.
“An Post has been highly appreciative of our structured approach to this project,” confirmed Prime Vision’s Richard Hagen. “And it’s all looking extremely good for final system testing in September.”
