Post Danmark Orders Next-Gen ParcelMatch Platform
With its commitment to a new phase of parcel automation, Post Danmark continues to break new ground in optimising its resource management and customer service. "One of the first ever customers for our parcel OCR platform, Post Danmark has steadfastly invested in automation ever since," explains Mark Ryder, of Prime Vision, the principal contractor for this latest phase of development.
The order from Post Danmark represents a major sales success for Prime Vision. It has been chosen not only to develop core recognition technology but is also responsible for managing and integrating the entire system including new camera imaging tunnels. And central to the system is the latest generation ParcelMatch recognition system and Key-IT video coding systems that will completely replace their existing forerunners. The project involves completely new hardware systems in the twin sorting hubs at Brøndby and Taulov that will link into the post's new rationalised distribution system.
This initiative effectively removes a second sorting process so that parcels sorted at the hubs are ready for immediate transfer to delivery vans when they reach the distribution centres. "The project has required Prime Vision to develop a much deeper level of coding for Post Danmark," Mark Ryder explains. "The ParcelMatch system has become an open integration platform for multiple OCR engines from Prime Vision and other vendors, in fact four in total all integrated by Prime Vision. This aspect delivers a platform for Post Danmark with a high performance level today and continuous improvement potential as business needs develop over the coming years.
