Video OCR: Subtitles

New opportunities for our OCR software are constantly being explored. In the last months we worked on a project to make a system for reading subtitles from video. This system locates and recognizes the subtitles embedded in video frames automatically using our OCR technology.

The main challenges for such a system are the separation of the subtitle text from the complex background and discriminating subtitle text from other overlay text.

The first results are promising and show that our technology can successfully be used for video OCR.
