Can you feel the heat?

Posted by: Richard Hagen on 07-04-2010

After a long and dark winter with unusual records of snow and ice in our country we all feel that ‘spring is in the air’. Although our Easter weekend wasn’t that nice, starting today the weather is chancing and temperatures are going up. These are those typical moments that everybody is positive, that everybody is looking forward to the summer and that the world looks better, nicer and more quite.

In our industry, we all see that the global economy is recovering from the world wide economic decline. Everywhere I come, people seems to be more positive, companies are starting investing again and many requests for information and quotation are coming our way.

Recent months have been quite hectic for us and all the work that we did resulted in various contracts at postal and parcel operators. Several new technologies and applications were born and being implemented right now. At Prime vision, we even started hiring new staff to extend our software engineering and sales capacity.

I whish that we all keep up the good spirit and that 2010 brings us lots of opportunities, luck, success and inner power.

Fall is in the air

Posted by: Richard Hagen on 03-09-2009

At this moment, I’m in northern America and see the first leaves falling of the trees. One thing is clear: fall is coming. The fall usually is the busiest period in our industry. We are preparing for a hot and busy last part of the year. The economy is picking up, deals are to be closed and Post Expo in Hannover is within 4 weeks from now.

Of course, Prime Vision will be present at Post Expo where we will be launching our new ParcelVision 3.0 platform including new advanced features. Come and visit us there, we’re at booth 2016. Apart from all the hassle and usual marketing material you’ll get at the show, our booth also offers you an oasis of peace and rest. Come and experience a relaxing chair massage. After ten minutes, you’ll feel like NEW and ready to sign orders!

I look forward seeing you in Hannover.

Help the environment, start today!

Posted by: Richard Hagen on 17-06-2009

It’s the best time of the year. The days are long, the sun is shining and we spend lots of time in the garden with the BBQ. The summer arrives in 4 days from now. When the weather is nice like this, people are more optimistic and look at life from the sunny side.

I’m of the opinion that this also influences our common thinking. The last few weeks, people tended to be more positive about the global economic slow down. Indexes are recovering, orders being placed: it seems that we found our way up. This was also my conclusion after visiting the National Postal Forum in Washington last month. Despite the fact that the show was probably half of its size compared to last year, the trend was positive and the line goes up, although slowly.

But even when the market circumstances improve, we, all of us, have another major issue to solve: our environment. We continue polluting our environment too much. We spend too much energy on production, transportation and food. We must find ways to live more efficiently with our natural resources. This starts with yourself. This starts today! I made a clear statement: I replaced my big MPV company car by a full hybrid car. This saves the environment and tons of CO2 emissions. I challenge you to follow me. Together we can save our planet. Also check out our mother company’s website TNT about the ‘planet me’ initiative (http://www.tntplanetme.com).

Prime Vision strongly supports this. Do you? Let me know and drop me a line how! ((JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address)).

OCR news from Washington

Posted by: Richard Hagen on 20-05-2009

I am at the National Postal Forum (NPF) in Washington DC at the moment, the show where technology and innovation come together.

Although not being as big as previous years, this is still a lively show with lots of technical innovations and novelties for the postal industry. The main postal integrators are present as well as many smaller niche-market players like Prime Vision. At NPF, we are exhibiting our latest demo installation of OCRlite, an advanced application to automatically read article numbers, quantities or destination codes on boxes. Such applications reduce manual handling in warehousing and wholesale operations and improve efficiency against very reasonable investments. Given the interest at our booth, it seems that the market is ready for these types of solutions.

As an industry leader we feel comfortable here. Washington DC is, of course, the centre of the political power in the US with Mr. Obama being the centre of that leadership. One could say, with some fantasy, that we are leaders among each other.

Our next public presence will be at Post Expo in Hannover after summer. I hope to meet you there by that time. We’ll be launching our new improved ParcelVision product suite to the industry.

Spring is in the Air!

Posted by: Richard Hagen on 03-03-2009

Spring is in the air. I can feel it when I bring the kids to school. The first crocuses are blooming, the sun is up earlier every day, days are getting longer and the first storks return from their winter holidays back in Delft. Everybody seems to get in a better mood, our team, our families and especially our customers.

Although the spring is in the air and winter holidays are almost over, at Prime Vision we are preparing for our annual skiing weekend. On Friday March 6th, 27 employees and some partners will leave for three days of skiing, boarding and lots of fun in the beautiful town of Nierderau in Austria. Although many of us are away from the office, our customers could always rely on our 24 x 7 support desk should unexpected problems occur. And that’s part of our mission statement: being always available for our customers, independent which time zone they’re located. Our after-sales and support strategies guarantee seamless production. Today and tomorrow.

The entire skiing team will be back at our head quarter Tuesday March 10th early morning, hopefully complete, in good shape and without injuries. But should you feel the need to call me during the skiing weekend, please do not hesitate. Call! I’m always open to your (new) ideas. At Prime Vision, our (potential) customers are in a Prime Position. No concessions.

Prime Vision

Despite the global credit crunch in the world economy, our sales team is quite busy with highly interesting opportunities. In the past few weeks, we have submitted more than 10 proposals and also had the opportunity to celebrate some sales successes: Morocco Post in close cooperation with our partner Bull and TollPost Globe in Norway with our partner Sick. If we keep up this pace, 2009 would be another successful year at Prime Vision.

At this moment, we are preparing for three major shows: World Mail and Express in Miami on February 24th and 25th, AIDC, a 2-day seminar and conference for automatic identification, data collection and tracking & tracing at March 11th and 12th in Veldhoven, The Netherlands and Post Expo Asia, the world’s largest postal show in Hong Kong in May. All shows may hopefully lead to new opportunities and new business contacts.  I would be delighted to meet you at one of the shows. Should you need more information, don't hesitate to send me an e-mail.

5th Year Anniversary

Posted by: Richard Hagen on 12-12-2008

Despite a very long technological history, we celebrated our 5th year anniversary of "Prime Vision" last weekend.

Prime Vision started out over fifty years ago as a research department of PTT Royal Dutch Post and over the years has evolved into the global company we are today.

Over 100 (former) colleagues joined the current team and enjoyed a great day with presentations, demonstrations, very good catering and live music from The Tadpoles (Our Support Manager Ben is the Drummer!).

When looking back, I experienced this as a great event and look forward with confidence to complete the decade.

Hope to see you then!
