Great projects and new developments
Posted by: Eddy Thans on 21-05-2010
2010 had only just begun when Prime Vision reached an historic moment: being awarded one of the biggest project since our foundation in 1956. This landmark project will see Prime Vision deploying an enhanced automation platform supporting all four sorting centres nationwide for the postal service of Ireland, AnPost. These existing sorting centres are already some of the most automated in the world, yet Prime Vision technology offers AnPost significant benefits and performance improvements, which is a great testament to our value. Look out for more news regarding this project in the coming months.
And did you know that we’ve got a sister? Dutchear is her name and voice recognition is her game! As both Prime Vision and Dutchear are recognition specialists in their field, it sure makes a good match. We are exploring several development opportunities for the postal market and are looking forward to working together.
We also have many new other product developments. For example the "subtitling for video technique" and a generic symbol recognition tool.
Well, thanks for reading my Blog and remember that we love talking with our clients about new and interesting ways to add value and performance. That’s what makes every day different, challenging and exciting to work together.
Never a dull moment at Prime Vision!

Sometimes it's time for a change!
So we thought, why not change the website. And if we're going to update the website, why not change the Corporate Identity. So that happened. And what you're seeing now is the first version of this.
Prime Vision is continuously improving, so watch out for more great developments.
We always value your feedback, so feel free to contact us with any feedback and suggestions.
Enjoy!

Isn’t trust a wonderful concept?

It's something we can all give freely, yet it's impossible to buy or win it back if it's lost. Trust is incredibly important in the way we do business here at Prime Vision, whether it's for our customers and partners, shareholders or colleagues. Trust is not a strategy or philosophy, but is at the heart of everything we do.
At this point I could tell you how we earn and maintain trust through the way we build relationships with your team, the way we manage projects, our development processes, our independence and so much more. You will be even more convinced though, if you hear from our existing customers by reading about their experiences. Then why not give us a call and see what we can do together?
I appreciate your visit to our new website. Our aim is to showcase our products and solutions, but also give you some insight into the amazing projects and developments our "PrimeVisioneers" are working on. One of our latest projects with TNT Parcel Service is the subject of the latest case-study. You can view the video or we would be pleased to ship you a DVD
These are exciting times at Prime Vision; all departments within the company have added or are seeking additional "PrimeVisioneers".
The last six months has been the most intense period of work in the history of Prime Vision with demand for our solutions at unprecedented levels. My colleagues have responded magnificently to the challenge, with many sacrificing their holidays especially over the Christmas & New Year period.
Project Kangaroo is well underway! Kangaroo is the code-name used by our team for the landmark nationwide mail recognition project for Australia Post, led by our partner AddressVision Inc, USA. It is a delight to be working with such a professional and dedicated team as we have found with Australia Post.
Next stop is Austria for PV-Ski. That's not the latest project code-name, but the annual Prime Vision skiing trip. Now that's what I call "Recognition in Motion"!
‘Our Prime (Vision) of Balance’

We, at Prime Vision, are busy, busy, busy.!...Our team are currently developing customised hi-tech solutions for delivery to clients in Ireland, Finland, UK, Austria, Netherlands, United States and Japan to name just a few! Just like our award-winning OCR, we are working around the clock on innovations that really make a difference and add value for our clients and partners.
We love our job at Prime Vision, love to be dynamic, love to constantly develop ourselves. We keep improving our products as well as taking care of ourselves. So we try to relax, because only then can we keep up the pace of our booming business.
Prime Vision is truly a pioneer in this business.
For example, when we launched our Parcel Vision suite of solutions, many players in this industry doubted that OCR could be successfully brought to the world of parcel automation. Yet, here we are just three years later at the leading edge of a revolution; Parcel Vision is being adopted globally by the major express parcel companies and the our integrator partners that serve them.
Continuous innovation and improvement will be the key to maintaining this success; customers love to give us new challenges! Our team is enriched with new, young talent. We want to keep them and our more experienced team in-shape. They all need to stay fresh and clear their heads with events like squash, mountain biking and skiing, to name but a few. When they return to the office, they are renewed and relaxed, with new Visions for our products.
A relaxed, strong, dynamic Prime Vision team, means better service for our customers. Giving them the best automation solutions in banking, parcel and postal vision, video-coding, OCR lite and more: http://www.primevision.com/
This has been a tradition that we have had for years and we will celebrate our 5th anniversary in April next year. A tradition that we will keep, not only for Prime Vision, and ourselves but also for our customers.
‘It once started with an image’

My interests already focused on image processing, when I studied Physics at the Technical University . I enjoyed correcting, processing and engineering complex images, when working at the Institute for Perception Research, a joint venture between Philips and the University. Recognition got my attention. During the last two decades, research has been focused on handwritten characters and postal address interpretations, which have become more and more important. Prime Vision has transformed these research interests into a clear and succinct representation of the enterprise's purpose for existence.
Computational Engineering
As a student I dealt with Computational Engineering (the design of algorithms used in software), I guess that was the start of dealing with complex solutions. You could say that working at the Institute for Perception Research has made me aware of the current business goals of Prime Vision. Both the institute and Prime Vision are focused on and continuously looking for new innovative challenges in the field of pattern recognition. We are both looking abroad and interested in international challenges. We are proud to bring sense to the recognition of handwritten signs. Many major companies in the USA, Europe and Asia may rely on the expertise of Prime Vision in order to make their processes faster, more reliable, and more (cost-)efficient.
The international Tamil characters competition
As mentioned before Prime Vision is constantly looking for new innovative (international) challenges. This year (2006) Prime Vision has won in a major competition for handwritten Tamil characters. The competition concerned the recognition of the first release of a public ground-truthed Tamil dataset. A particular challenge compared to other OCR datasets is the relatively high number of classes and the relatively low number of training samples per class.
The objective of the competition was to recognize 156 different classes of handwritten ‘Tamil characters’. Prime Vision is very proud to announce that it did won this competition. We faced another challenge .
