Eddy Thans (CEO)
Eddy Thans

After my study physics in 1996 I joined Prime Vision and I’m heading the group since the end of 1999. During my study I was already enthousiastic about image processing and was very happy I could extend those activities at Prime Vision. Amazing to be working for a company for such a long time, and still enjoying it every moment! Especially our international expansion and the growth of our customer portfolio really gives me a thrill. I think enthusiasm is the greatest asset in the world. So I’m keen on keeping pleasure in my life and work; for what soap is to the body, laughter is to the soul. So fun at work is important, but I also get a lot of energy of all the things I do beside work. I’m enjoying golf very much, especially when I can do a round with my wife and kid. As a contribution to society I’m also chairman at the Dutch childcare organisation Vlietkinderen (http://www.vlietkinderen.nl). And last but not least, several times per week I’ll go running. This is really a perfect way of stop thinking and just go with the flow.

Marius Bulacu

I have studied Physics at the University of Bucharest (1998) and obtained a PhD in Artificial Intelligence from the University of Groningen (2007). My research work focuses on image analysis and pattern recognition (document processing and retrieval, handwriting recognition, writer identification, camera-based OCR). After following a course on neural networks during my university studies, I have become passionate about pattern recognition: the fascinating process by which continuous and variable shapes are assigned to a set of discrete classes using statistical methods (learning from examples). Postal automation is the ideal application area to see how advanced pattern recognition methods yield concrete results in practice. I have joined Prime Vision in 2009 and my role is to develop technological extensions and improvement to our software library. I am married to Monica and we have great kids, Ioana and Stefan. I enjoy spending time with my family, jogging, photography and cooking.
