Why we are shareholders of PV
‘Independence and excellence’: keywords for Prime Vision.
For TNT, this is of utmost strategic importance; hence we have invested in a majority shareholding in Prime Vision.
I know the Prime Vision group now for more than 20 years and we have done a lot of projects together.
Prime Vision is now positioned at arms length of the TNT organisation, important to maintain their entrepreneurial approach to the market.
As shareholder we expect two simple things from Prime Vision:
- Maintain your leading technical position by doing challenging international projects and by investing in R&D;
- Run your business in a way it is profitable. This proves you are adding value to the customer and keeps the organisation sharp.
Ultimately, success is determined by the customers of Prime Vision, not just the shareholders; in that respect the exponential growth in Prime Vision’s international business proves they have the right products, solutions and approach.
TNO Companies is the holding company of all TNO participations. Our activities:
- Creation of start-ups and sell them commercially;
- Realisation of joint ventures with strategic partners in the Netherlands and abroad;
- The acquisition, optimisation and sale of activities and ventures that do not or no longer fit in the TNO portfolio;
- The operation of companies whose TNO services are better offered in a private context.
Thus we manage the commercialisation and utilisation of knowledge. TNO Companies participates in more than 80 companies, has a presence in 11 countries, employs over 600 people (fte) and has a consolidated turnover of € 65 million (2005 figures).
Why we are shareholders of PV
TNO is the Netherlands Organisation for Applied Scientific Research and governed by private law.
‘Teaming with TNT was the right step for growth’
I always liked Prime Vision; a small and smart organisation belonging to the best of the world. When TNT asked us if it was possible to invest in part of Prime Vision, I was convinced it was the right step. It gave Prime Vision the financial position to establish international growth while maintaining a strong presence on the home market.
As a shareholder of Prime Vision we are able to share knowledge and experience with each other and we have cooperation with the largest commercial employer in the Netherlands (TNT).
We find it very important for Prime Vision to maintain their independence. Not much of a discussion really; both shareholders had the same opinion.
I am very proud that Prime Vision’s international success really proves we made the right decision.
